Meet our Guides
Our Guides are all dedicated outdoor professionals living and skiing in the local Sea to Sky corridor from Squamish to Pemberton. Whistler is their backyard, and skiing is their life.

ACMG/IFMGA Mountain Guide Brian Jones founded Whistler Ski Guides as a division of the successful Canada West Mountain School after realizing the need for an exclusive ski guiding service in Whistler that concentrates on offering only the best backcountry services possible!

When you choose to head out into some of the most spectacular and rugged backcountry ski terrain in North America, you want to be with the best. Whistler Ski Guides are not only professional Guides, they also bring a high level of enthusiasm and commitment to all their tours. Many have backgrounds as sponsored athletes, ski instructors and competitive skiers, as well as being among many of the best skiers in Canada!

A certified IFMGA/ACMG Mountain Guide, Brian has extensive experience climbing and skiing around the world for the past 35 years, with his first introduction to the Whistler backcountry in 1981 as he toured with friends into the Spearhead Range.

In addition to operating western Canada's largest mountain school, Canada West Mountain School, Brian also actively guides around the globe on the 7 highest mountains on all 7 continents (the "7-Summits). When not exploring the mountains of the world, Brian spends his time in the Whistler and Squamish regions skiing, climbing and guiding out of his home base in Squamish, BC.

Brian has been guiding full-time in the Whistler region since his first trip guiding clients into the Spearheads in 1986. Comfortable with all aspects of winter backcountry sports, Brian usually spends his time seeking fresh powder on tele-skis, though he can also be found on Alpine Touring gear, and occasionally he will head for the backcountry with his snowboard strapped to his back looking for the choice lines to ride!
